In the third quarter of 2023, the travel and local app sector in Ecuador saw significant user engagement across the top five apps. Here’s a closer look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

Airbnb had a notable presence, with weekly downloads fluctuating throughout the quarter. Downloads peaked at approximately 17.4K in early September, while weekly active users also saw an upward trend, reaching around 123K during the same period.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel maintained a consistent performance in downloads, averaging around 3K to 4K per week. Active users hovered between 48K and 52K, with a slight increase towards the end of September, closing at about 52K.

Google Earth experienced a steady but modest download rate, with numbers ranging from 1.9K to 3.3K weekly. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 21K and 26K throughout the quarter.

Despegar: vuelos y hoteles showed consistent engagement with weekly downloads ranging from 1.1K to 2.3K. Active users saw a gradual increase, peaking at approximately 16.4K in mid-September.

Hopper: Hotels, Flights & Cars had a varied download pattern, with a notable spike to 4.8K in late June. Active users decreased from around 24K at the start of the quarter to about 10.5K by the end of September.
